Spirit Mind BODY
BODY

Your body is your temple; it is the vessel that carries the content of your mind and spirit. Your physical body is a conduit of your spirit and your life energy. It is a finely tuned instrument that provides necessary signals for ongoing correction. Learning to interpret and act on those signals is the foundation of living a long, happy, healthy life.

Whether  physiological or emotional, your body communicate consistently in an effort to maintain appropriate balance.

The challenge for many is interpreting the signals accurately and taking effective action.
Similar to finding your favorite station on the radio, it is imperative to tune in to your body’s unique frequency in order to master and preserve your physical health. An ounce of prevention truly is worth a pound of cure when it comes to caring for your body.

Sure, we all know the importance of an annual physical, but what do you do to  preserve your body on a daily basis?

Consider some simple healthy habits, any of which can have a profound impact on your health and longevity:

Walk 10 minutes per day
You can accomplish this effortlessly by parking further away from your destination and taking the stairs.
You can build relationships by walking with loved ones and using the time to connect and reflect
You can use the time to pray, enjoy nature, gather your thoughts, or just be mindless or mindful
Working out longer provides more benefits

Drink more water
Your body is primarily composed of water (50-65 %!)  which needs consistent replenishment.
Research suggests drinking half your body weight in ounces of water daily.
For me, this translates to about 64 ounces, or four 16-ounce bottles.
I accomplish this easily by starting my morning with water,  drinking one or two bottles during my walk or work out,  taking a bottle  along on my commute and taking a bottle to bed with me.
Drinking water has many amazing health benefits and is something simple that everyone can do.

Spend time outdoors
Our bodies need sunshine and fresh air, not to mention the visual beauty of nature.  Just 20 minutes of sunshine daily offers necessary vitamin D.
How often do you spend time outdoors?
What do you enjoy doing outdoors?
Where is your happy place?

I realize not everyone shares my enthusiasm for being outdoors and soaking up solar power, but I assure you it works.
Simply enjoying God's creation and recognizing its simple beauty brings joy to the heart and distracts troubled minds.

Eat a healthy balanced plant-based diet
We all know this but how many of us actually practice healthy eating?
The majority of our population is obese; (2 out of 3 people!)
Obesity is a completely preventable condition that shortens lives and reduces enjoyment.

Connect with people
No man is an island. And as Barbra Streisand so eloquently sang:   people who need people are the luckiest people in the world.

Love and belonging is a basic human need, and the people we surround ourselves with have a dramatic impact on how we see ourselves and experience our lives.
Physical touch is mandatory for our survival, so while texting, Facebook and telephones may be convenient conduits, connecting physically has physiological, psychological, emotional and spiritual benefits beyond measure.

Their ongoing interaction guides your choices and determines your destiny.
Where the three intersect creates the lens through which we view the world.
The larger the intersection, the greater the focus, thus access to your heart’s wisdom and true desire.
